Having the perfect vision without having to wear glasses or contacts may sound like a dream that you’ll never get to take part in. However, with Lasik eye surgery, patients can get perfect or nearly perfect vision without having to use any form of corrective eyewear. Does it sound too good to be true? Read on to learn about whether or not Lasik is right for you.
Your Eyes Are Stable
One of the things that Dr. Julia Giyaur will look at to determine whether not Laisk is fight for you is if your vision is fairly stable. What does that mean? It means she will look at if your vision has changed dramatically recently or if your vision has started to normalize itself and stay consistent. If your vision hasn’t’ changed much, then you may be a good candidate for Lasik.
You Have a Prescription up to a -10
If you have a prescription that is over a -10, you may not be a suitable candidate for Lasik or you may not get as good of results as if you have a lower prescription. Typically, we find more success in patients who have a prescription that is under a -10.
You Don’t Smoke
Did you know that smoking puts you at a higher risk of developing an infection after surgery? It can also increase your chances of developing dry eye. If you smoke, Dr. Julia Giyaur may recommend that you stop smoking at least three weeks before Lasik surgery.
You Aren’t Pregnant or Nursing
Patients who are pregnant or nursing are not considered to be good candidates for Lasik. However, if you are either pregnant or nursing and are interested in learning more about Lasik for later on, we can still schedule a consultation with you.
